Mary Louise Cohen
Mary Louise Cohen is a founding partner of Phillips & Cohen LLP, the law firm who knows the most successful in the representation of whistleblowers in trials involving Medicare fraud and Other types of scams against the American government.
The trial instigated by Ms. Cohen and other lawyers in the firm on behalf of whistleblowers have allowed the U.S. Treasury to cover more than $ 2.7 billion. In 2004, the National Law Journal named Phillips & Cohen one of the top twenty U.S. law firms for plaintiffs in litigation for its work as “qui tam” (disclosure).
Ms. Cohen received her degree in 1977 “cum laude” from Harvard Law School, where she was a member of the Legal Aid Bureau, Harvard (Harvard Legal Aid Bureau). Between 1977 and 1981, she served as associate in several law firms in Atlanta, Georgia and Washington DC.
Before specializing in representing whistleblowers, Ms. Cohen spent several years in public service positions. Between 1981 and 1984 she was Consultant and Senior Advisor in the Sub-Committee on Juvenile Justice of the Judicial Committee of the United States Senate, where it focuses her work on increasing the protection provided to victims of abuse and homeless. During the next two years, she was Legislative Director of Handgun Control, Inc. From 1986 to 1988 she served as Advisor to the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Monopolies and Business Law of the Judicial Committee of the United States Senate.
She is currently Chair of the Opportunity Fund.
